What is a bookmarklet?
A bookmarklet is a very small javascript program, usually containted in a web browser bookmark or favorite, that can perform useful fuctions to enhance web browsing. Bookmarklets are also sometimes called favelets.
Bookmarklets can perform a variety of tasks, including:
- enhancing browser functionality
- performing searches
- assisting in the design of web pages
A simple example is the Google Search bookmarklet (IE or Netscape), which can be used to query Google.
